Razer and NUS Launch Joint AI Research Lab for Gaming

Razer and the National University of Singapore (NUS) announced the creation of a joint AI research lab on 5 August. The lab, housed within NUS’s School of Computing, will employ 15‑20 researchers and focus on "gaming artificial narrow intelligence" (GANI), aiming to develop real‑time content systems, core model innovation and advanced personalisation for interactive digital environments.

Razer’s chief strategy officer Lee Li Ming said the initiative is part of a broader push to build a software and AI layer around the company’s hardware, with the long‑term goal of eventually monetising the technology. Intellectual property from the research will be co‑owned by Razer and NUS, and the partnership may explore projects such as a digital gaming companion (Razer AVA) and an AI‑enabled wearable headset (Motoko). The collaboration reflects Razer’s expanding AI centres of excellence in Singapore and France and anticipates rapid growth in the global gaming‑AI market.
