Razlog Municipality equips volunteer fire brigade with new fire truck and specialized gear

The mayor of Razlog, Krasimir Gerchev, officially handed over a modern fire‑truck, water‑foam pumps and two high‑mobility vehicles to the town’s volunteer fire formations. The equipment, including a water‑carrier vehicle, foam dispensers and off‑road trucks, is intended to improve response times in forest fires, rescue operations and other emergencies.

The gear was supplied under the project “Improving the readiness of Blagoevgrad Province for disaster prevention and response”, financed by the European Union’s European Social Fund through the 2021‑2027 Human Resources Development Programme. After specialised training, the volunteers can now operate the new technology more safely and effectively. Gerchev also announced plans to install an early‑warning fire detection system on Golak hill.

"This is support for people who risk their lives in the battle against natural disasters," the mayor said, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to protect both residents and the region’s natural environment.
