Atlético-MG defeats Bragantino 1-0 in Copa Sul-Americana opener

Atlético-MG secured a 1-0 away victory against Red Bull Bragantino in the first leg of the Copa Sul-Americana round of 16. The decisive goal was scored by Tomás Cuello in the 27th minute of the second half, following a precise pass from Igor Gomes and a mistake by Bragantino goalkeeper Cleiton.

Goalkeeper Everson played a crucial role in maintaining the lead, making several key saves to deny Bragantino's late attempts to equalize. Atlético-MG manager Eduardo Domínguez praised Everson's performance, describing him as one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

With this result, Atlético-MG holds a narrow advantage and only needs a draw in the second leg to advance to the quarterfinals. The return match is scheduled for August 19 at the Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte. Bragantino must win by two or more goals to qualify directly, or by one goal to force a penalty shootout.
