RB Leipzig considers Julian Nagelsmann for coaching role

RB Leipzig is reportedly considering a coaching change as current manager Martin Demichelis faces increasing pressure following a inconsistent start to the season. The club currently sits ninth in the Bundesliga and has experienced difficulties in both domestic play and the Champions League, including a 4-1 loss to Como.

Julian Nagelsmann, who previously managed Leipzig from 2019 to 2021, has emerged as a primary candidate to return to the club. While Leipzig officials, including Sporting Director Marcel Schäfer, have expressed continued confidence in Demichelis, reports suggest that Nagelsmann is a possibility should results not improve. Nagelsmann, who recently stepped down as the German national team coach, is said to be open to a return to his former club.

Internal support for Nagelsmann reportedly includes RB Leipzig Supervisory Board Chairman and Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff. Other potential candidates mentioned include former Nagelsmann assistant Dino Toppmöller. The club's upcoming schedule, featuring matches against Bayern München and Real Madrid, is expected to be decisive for Demichelis's future.
