RB Leipzig faces defensive struggles following loss to Real Madrid

RB Leipzig suffered a 1-4 defeat against Real Madrid, marking their fifth consecutive away loss. Despite an improved performance compared to their recent heavy loss against Bayern Munich, including an early lead, the team struggled defensively. Coach Martin Demichelis noted that the team conceded ten goals across matches against Bayern and Real Madrid, highlighting a significant defensive vulnerability.

Key issues identified include a lack of defensive intensity and missed opportunities in front of goal by players such as Romulo and Christopher Nkunku. Goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt was credited with preventing a higher scoreline. Leipzig now prepares for upcoming fixtures against SV Elversberg, Essen, and Schalke, where Demichelis must address these defensive and tactical shortcomings.
