Rúben Amorim appointed head coach of AC Milan

AC Milan announced that Portuguese manager Rúben Amorim will take over as head coach, succeeding Massimiliano Allegri. The club released an official statement confirming the appointment and Amorim’s contract, which runs until 2029.

Amorim, 41, previously guided Sporting CP to two Portuguese league titles, two League Cups and a Super Cup, and had a brief stint as Manchester United’s manager in 2024‑2025. His career began as a player for Belenenses, Benfica and Braga, and he earned 14 caps for Portugal, playing in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. The Milan board highlighted his modern, high‑intensity attacking style and his reputation for developing young talent as key reasons for the hire.

The hiring comes after a disappointing season for Milan, which missed the Champions League places and saw a restructuring of its sporting directorate. The club expects Amorim to lead a rebuild and restore its status in Italian and European competitions.
