Reserve Bank of India publishes August 2026 bank holiday calendar for India

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the official bank holiday calendar for August 2026. Across the country banks will be closed for a total of 14 days, including all Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, and the national holiday on 15 August for Independence Day.

In addition to the nationwide closures, several state‑specific holidays are listed: 4 August (Ker Puja) in Tripura, 13 August (Patriots Day) in Manipur, 19 August (Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s birthday) in Tripura, 25–26 August (Milad‑un‑Nabi and Onam) in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, and 28 August (Raksha Bandhan, Pang‑Lhabsol, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi and Ayyankali Jayanthi) in various states. Digital banking channels, ATMs and UPI services remain operational throughout the holidays.

Customers planning in‑person transactions are advised to check the specific holiday schedule for their state before visiting a branch.
