The Reserve Bank of India imposed monetary penalties on Muthoot Finance Limited (₹5.80 lakh) and its subsidiary Muthoot Vehicle and Asset Finance Limited (₹2.70 lakh) for violations of KYC directions, inadequate periodic risk‑category reviews and insufficient systems for identifying and reporting suspicious transactions. RBI clarified that the penalties are without prejudice to any further regulatory action.
In parallel, Muthoot Finance, India’s largest gold‑loan NBFC, announced a corporate‑social‑responsibility outlay of ₹174.03 crore for fiscal year 2027, after spending ₹106.42 crore in FY26.
