Árboles Vivos denounces tree removal during Huesca construction
The Árboles Vivos platform in Huesca has denounced the removal of a plane tree during construction work for a new roundabout at the intersection of Antonio Angulo and José Gil Cávez streets. The organization warns that another 15-year-old tree may also be at risk due to the ongoing works in the Las Harineras urban area.
According to the platform, construction activities have resulted in exposed and cut roots, and some tree trunks have been used to support construction materials. Árboles Vivos has questioned whether adequate preventive measures were implemented to protect existing vegetation and noted that while some trees were protected after the fact, most measures were insufficient.
The group is also demanding transparency regarding technical documentation, specifically asking if tree and shrub species were identified in project plans from 2009, 2021, and 2026. They claim that no specific tree conservation assessment reports were found in the consulted documentation. This follows a previous incident in late August 2025 where several trees were felled.
