RBP health insurance covers free treatment by contract doctors abroad
Patients insured with the Czech health insurer RBP are entitled to receive medical care without paying out‑of‑pocket when they are examined by a doctor who has a contract with the insurer, even if the treatment takes place outside their permanent residence. The patient must present a valid insurance card, which can be verified electronically, and the care is billed directly to the insurer.
If the physician does not have a contract with RBP, the law on public health insurance still requires the provider to report the emergency care as “urgent medical care” and the insurer will reimburse the service. This applies to acute conditions that could endanger life or cause serious health harm, such as severe infections, and ensures that patients are not charged for the consultation or prescription.
