Deportivo La Coruña defeats Valencia 3-1 in La Liga

Deportivo La Coruña secured their first La Liga victory since their 2018 relegation, defeating Valencia CF 3-1 at Riazor. The match was characterized by two significant own goals and a standout performance by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored the second goal for the hosts on a counterattack.

Deportivo took an early lead in the 13th minute via a César Tárrega own goal. Aubameyang doubled the advantage shortly after. Although Valencia’s Umar Sadiq managed to pull one back in the 26th minute to make it 2-1, Deportivo regained control following a second own goal by Mouctar Diakhaby in the 59th minute.

For Valencia, the loss marks a difficult start to the season, with the team having scored only one goal in their first three matches. Additionally, striker Umar Sadiq is expected to miss Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers due to a suspected hamstring injury sustained during the match.
