RC Deportivo officially changes name to Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña

On 23 June 2026 the Extraordinary General Shareholders' Meeting of Real Club Deportivo voted unanimously to change the club’s legal name to “Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña” in Spanish and “Real Club Deportivo da Coruña” in Galician, in line with Spain’s law 2/1998 that mandates the use of the official toponym A Coruña. The change follows a binding consultation held from 17‑21 June in which 55.96 % of eligible members participated and more than 79.41 % voted in favour. Shareholders representing 99.864 % of the club’s capital were present, and all resolutions were approved without dissent. The new denomination will be reflected in the club’s badge, replacing “La Coruña” with “A Coruña”, and will be used in all official documents. The decision coincides with the club’s 120th anniversary and other initiatives such as commissioning an official anthem.
