RC Lens appoints Yannick Cahuzac as permanent head coach
RC Lens management has confirmed that Yannick Cahuzac will serve as the club's permanent head coach following the departure of Dino Toppmöller. During a press conference, General Manager Benjamin Parrot and Sporting Director Jean-Louis Leca clarified that Cahuzac's appointment is not an interim solution, stating, “Today, he is the coach of the first team.”
Toppmöller's exit, occurring just three months after his arrival, was attributed to a long-term observation of internal friction. Parrot noted that a “fracture” had developed between the French player group and the foreign coaching staff. The club emphasized that the separation was reached through mutual agreement.
Because Cahuzac is currently in the process of obtaining his professional coaching diploma (BEPF), the club acknowledged it will be required to pay a fine of 25,000 euros per match to comply with regulations. Cahuzac, a former club captain, expressed readiness to lead the team through a difficult start to the Ligue 1 season.
