RC Lens signs Franjo Ivanovic and appoints Serge Aurier as U15 coach

RC Lens has completed several significant roster moves, most notably the acquisition of Croatian striker Franjo Ivanovic from Benfica on a one-year loan. Ivanovic, 22, reportedly chose Lens over interest from Italian club Lazio to secure opportunities in the Champions League. To announce the signing, Lens released a provocative animated video inspired by ‘The Simpsons’ that included satirical references to Lazio and a historical 6-0 victory Lens held over the Italian side in 1977.

In addition to the Ivanovic transfer, the club has announced the return of former player Serge Aurier. The 33-year-old Ivorian international, who has played for clubs including PSG and Tottenham, will join the club’s staff as an assistant coach for the U15 team. While Aurier has not officially announced his retirement from professional play, this role marks his transition into coaching at his former club.
