Rückgrat Donaueschingen integrates sustainable building with fitness and wellness

Rückgrat Donaueschingen, a fitness studio located at Brigachweg 20, distinguishes itself through a focus on sustainability, wellness, and community. Established over 30 years ago, the facility was constructed in 2009 as the region's first passive house studio, significantly reducing heating energy requirements compared to conventional buildings.

The studio utilizes several eco-friendly measures, including photovoltaic systems on the roof and south facade to generate electricity, as well as large cisterns to collect rainwater for irrigation and toilet flushing.

In addition to training areas, the facility features a wellness section with a Finnish sauna, a bio-sauna, and a separate women's sauna. The studio also includes the Rückgrat Café, which serves organic, sugar-free food and drinks, acting as a social meeting point for members.
