RCMP conduct retail crime blitz resulting in multiple arrests

Law enforcement agencies across Canada conducted retail crime prevention operations as part of a national blitz.

In central Alberta, the RCMP in Red Deer and Blackfalds arrested 38 suspects and laid 52 charges during a three-day operation from September 9 to 11, 2026. The initiative resulted in the recovery of $7,563 worth of property. Specific incidents included thefts at Home Depot, Winners, Walmart, and Superstore.

In Richmond, British Columbia, the RCMP conducted boost and bust operations in partnership with the Retail Council of Canada’s National Retail Crime Task Force. These operations led to 21 arrests and the recovery of more than $5,675 in stolen merchandise. Recommended charges include theft under $5,000, assault, and failure to comply with release orders. Authorities also provided social service referrals to those arrested.
