RCN Radio and FDP expand radio coverage for FIFA World Cup 2026
RCN Radio’s Caribbean regional network created an integrated sports system to broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2026 across ten stations, including Radio Uno, Alerta and El Sol. The coverage features a roster of commentators such as Emiro Ochoa, Bernardo Sanabria and others, reaching listeners in the Caribbean, Bucaramanga and Cúcuta. Stations that wish to transmit from stadiums must pay $1,800 per match for rights, a cost that limits participation.
Meanwhile, Costa Rican announcer Ronald Villalobos fulfilled a 32‑year dream by joining the Spanish‑language U.S. broadcaster Fútbol de Primera (FDP) to narrate the 2026 tournament. Starting as a child listening to Radio Columbia, Villalobos worked through local stations before securing a role with FDP, where he now shares commentary alongside prominent international football figures.
