Récréâtrales 2026 theatre biennial to be held in Ouagadougou

The 14th edition of the Récréâtrales theatre biennial is scheduled to take place in Ouagadougou from October 24 to 31, 2026. Under the theme ‘Obliger à beauté’, inspired by the thought of poet Édouard Glissant, the event aims to use art as a means of connection, sharing, and resistance amidst regional security crises.

Organizers reported that preparations are 80% complete. The festival will feature a diverse program including dance, humor, music, and activities for young audiences. Notable inclusions are an original musical creation by Olivier Tarpaga and his orchestra, as well as performances by comedian Moussa Petit Sergent. The event is intended to promote values of dignity, hospitality, and solidarity through artistic creation.
