Dominican Republic expands international tourism and trade ties

The Dominican Republic is strengthening its international economic and tourism presence through several key developments. At the IFTM Top Resa 2026 fair in Paris, the country secured approximately US$600 million in tourism investment agreements and expanded air connectivity with Europe. Notable aviation updates include ITA Airways launching a direct route between Rome and Santo Domingo, and Air France increasing its frequency between Paris and Punta Cana.

In the culinary sector, the RD Exquisita festival is expanding to Salamanca, Spain, to promote Dominican agro-industrial products like cocoa and coffee. Additionally, the upcoming Dominican Week in France will focus on investment, renewable energy, and digital technology.

Domestically, the Ministry of the Interior and Police has partnered with the Haina industrial sector to build a new specialized fire station. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Women has opened a new provincial office in Santiago to enhance services for gender violence prevention and women's rights. The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) also announced scheduled maintenance in Santo Domingo and Monte Plata to ensure grid reliability.
