RD Vial reports record toll revenue amid Paso Rápido technical issues
RD Vial has reported record revenue and high traffic volumes in the Dominican Republic, though users continue to report technical failures with the 'Paso Rápido' electronic toll system. Between January and May 2026, toll stations generated RD$5,778.1 million from over 42.3 million vehicle crossings. Total revenue for 2025 reached approximately RD$12,368 million, a 36.8% increase compared to 2024.
Despite the financial growth, the 'Paso Rápido' application faces criticism. Users have reported issues including incorrect balance displays, disappearing transaction histories, login errors, and difficulties with recharges. These technical problems have led to delays in lanes intended to expedite transit, particularly in regions like La Altagracia.
Traffic data for the first half of 2026 shows a total of 56,054,279 crossings. The Duarte toll station recorded the highest volume with 7,938,595 crossings, followed by Las Américas with 6,077,694. Monthly data indicates that May saw the highest peak of traffic, while February recorded the lowest volume for the semester.
