Rádio MEC to broadcast opera Venus and Adonis
Rádio MEC will broadcast the opera Venus and Adonis as part of its Sala de Concerto program this Friday at 17:00. The performance is presented by the Conosco Coletivo de Criadores and was recorded at the Teatro Levino de Alcântara within the Escola de Música de Brasília.
The production offers a contemporary interpretation of the 300-year-old English opera. The cast includes soloists Joyce Moreira as Venus, Gustavo Freccia as Adonis, and Isabel Quintela as Cupid. The musical ensemble consists of 16 instrumentalists specializing in early music—utilizing instruments such as recorders, viola da gamba, harpsichord, and theorbo—alongside an eight-voice choir.
Musical direction is provided by Cecília Aprigliano and André Vidal. The Conosco Coletivo de Criadores, founded by Aprigliano, Vidal, and Mônica Monteiro, aims to promote musical and scenic production in the Distrito Federal by blending chamber music with other artistic languages.
