Rádio Nacional celebrates 90 years of Brazilian broadcasting history

Rádio Nacional is celebrating its 90th anniversary, marking nearly a century of influence on the Brazilian broadcasting landscape. Originally linked to the newspaper ‘A Noite’ in Rio de Janeiro, the station was incorporated into the federal government's assets by Getúlio Vargas in 1940, a move that helped transform it into a global broadcasting phenomenon with reach across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

To commemorate the milestone, various cultural events are taking place. The program ‘Sem Censura’ on TV Brasil is hosting themed discussions featuring media figures, sports commentators, and artists to recount the station's history and its role in discovering national talents.

Additionally, a new documentary titled ‘PRK-30 – O Rádio pelo Avesso’ is premiering in cinemas. The film explores the history of the iconic humor program PRK-30, which was a staple of the golden age of Brazilian radio. The documentary's release coincides with the anniversary celebrations and includes public debates in Rio de Janeiro.
