Rádio Nacional da Amazônia celebrates 49 years of service

Rádio Nacional da Amazônia is celebrating its 49th anniversary, marking nearly five decades of providing information, culture, and services to various communities across the Amazon region.

A special commemorative program, Viva Maria, hosted by Mara Régia, highlighted the station's historical impact. Singer and composer Nilson Chaves discussed the collective creation of eight musical pieces designed to reflect the diverse rhythms and cultural identity of the Amazonian people.

The station has served as a vital link between isolated territories and the rest of Brazil. Maryellen Crisóstomo, a quilombola leader from the Baião Territory in Tocantins, testified to the radio's importance, noting how it functioned as a primary communication tool for families in areas where other media were scarce. The celebration also looks forward to the station's 50th anniversary in 2027.
