Rédoine Faïd prison transfer faces legal appeal in France

The transfer of high-profile inmate Rédoine Faïd from the Condé-sur-Sarthe prison has become a point of legal contention. A sentencing judge ordered his transfer to another facility by August 24, citing undignified detention conditions. However, the Alençon prosecutor's office has filed an appeal against this decision.

Parallel concerns have been raised by the UFAP UNSa Justice union regarding the management of inmates held under the QLCO (Quartier de Longue Durée de Haute Sécurité) regime. The union criticized a recent decision to grant a weekend leave to an inmate in Condé-sur-Sarthe, noting the permission was granted despite opposition from both the prosecution and prison administration.

The union argues that such permissions undermine the security purpose of the QLCO, which is designed to isolate individuals from criminal networks. They are calling for an immediate rewrite of current decrees to implement a total ban on leave for inmates assigned to this high-security regime.
