RE PropCo II withdraws industrial project in Brno-jih
Developer RE PropCo II has withdrawn its proposal for a twenty-hectare industrial and warehouse complex near the D1 highway in Brno-jih from the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
The project planned to include nine halls covering eight hectares, with an estimated daily traffic volume of 1,150 passenger cars and 470 heavy trucks. The proposal faced significant opposition from local residents and politicians, led by Brno-jih Deputy Mayor Jakub Holas. Critics argued that the development lacked necessary transport infrastructure, which would have forced heavy traffic through residential areas like Dolní Heršpice.
Opponents also noted that the plan conflicted with local zoning regulations, which require the construction of bypasses for Dolní Heršpice and Přízřenice, as well as connections to Vídeňská Street and the D2 highway, before such development can proceed.
