Reacher actors and author discuss series developments

Actor Alan Ritchson has suggested that plans to adapt Lee Child’s novel ‘Die Trying’ for the Prime Video series ‘Reacher’ were abandoned following a political election. Ritchson noted that the adaptation, which features a plot involving a radical militia and white supremacist group, had been approved until ‘someone got re-elected,’ though he did not specify the individual or the exact circumstances behind the decision.

Separately, author Lee Child discussed the development of the ‘Neagley’ spin-off on Prime Video. Child attributed the decision to create a standalone series to Maria Sten’s portrayal of Frances Neagley. While the character was originally intended to serve as a narrative tool to externalize Reacher’s internal dialogue, Child stated that Sten’s performance ‘basically demanded a spin-off’ by elevating the character beyond her initial functional role.
