Reacher series may shift narrative structure and character habits

The Prime Video series Reacher, starring Alan Ritchson, may undergo significant changes in its upcoming seasons. According to author Lee Child, the character is set to begin using a smartphone, a departure from his established persona in both the books and previous television seasons.

Additionally, the series might break its tradition of self-contained, episodic investigations. While the show has historically adapted standalone novels, there is potential for a continuous narrative. The fifth season is expected to adapt the novel ‘Make Me’, which follows Reacher in Mother's Rest. Since the novel ‘The Midnight Line’ picks up immediately after those events, adapting it for the sixth season could create a multi-season story arc rather than a fresh, isolated investigation.
