Reading Hospital Road Run to fund emergency department expansion
The Reading Hospital Road Run is scheduled to return to West Reading on Sunday, Oct. 18. The event aims to raise funds for Reading Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Proceeds from the run will support a planned expansion of the ED to improve patient flow and the addition of 19 new ICU beds. These improvements are intended to address the growing demand for emergency and critical care services in Berks County. Reading Hospital currently operates the busiest single-site emergency department in Pennsylvania and serves as the region’s only Level I Trauma Center.
The event offers several participation options, including a 5K, a half marathon, and a fun run/walk. Attendees can also participate in family-friendly activities and access local food trucks.
