Real Academia Española launches Ibero-American clear language network
During the III Convention of the Pan-Hispanic Network of Clear and Accessible Language in La Plata, Argentina, the Real Academia Española (RAE) announced the creation of a new Ibero-American Network. This initiative aims to unite Spanish and Portuguese-speaking institutions to promote more understandable and accessible communication across public administration, justice, education, health, and science.
Santiago Muñoz Machado, director of the RAE, noted that the rise of social media and artificial intelligence has driven a renewed need for clear language. The initiative was formalized through the signing of the La Plata Declaration, involving several major organizations including the Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB), the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI), and various national academies from Argentina, Portugal, and Brazil.
