Real Betis advances Benito Villamarín stadium renovation
Renovation works are progressing at the Benito Villamarín stadium in Spain, where the Real Betis football club is overseeing a major transformation project. Recent demolition has completely removed one of the stadium's stands, leaving a significant gap in the structure as the project moves into its next phase.
Following the demolition, the construction firm Acciona has begun excavation and containment work on the adjacent parking area. The renovation aims to convert the venue into a multifunctional complex to diversify the club's revenue streams. While maintaining a capacity of 60,000 spectators, the new design will include a roof covering all seats and an annex featuring a hotel, a health clinic, and leisure areas. The project is expected to be completed within approximately two and a half years, with the goal of being ready for the 2027/28 season.
