Fran García joins Real Betis from Real Madrid

Spanish left‑back Fran García has completed a permanent move from Real Madrid to Real Betis. The transfer fee is reported at around €4 million, with Real Madrid retaining 50 % of any future sale. Garcia signed a four‑year contract that runs until 30 June 2030.

The move follows the arrival of Marc Cucurella at Madrid, which limited Garcia’s playing time. Betis view the signing as a key reinforcement for the left‑back position, aiming to improve a spot they identified as a priority. The club secured the deal after negotiations that reduced the price from an initial €10 million request.

Madrid’s decision also aligns with a broader summer squad overhaul, having recently let midfielder Dani Ceballos leave. Garcia’s departure was marked by farewell messages from teammates, including Jude Bellingham, who praised his professionalism.

Betis will benefit from his experience, having made 109‑110 appearances for Madrid and winning five major trophies during his tenure.
