Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña changes name as O Porriño adopts new flag and emblem
The Xunta de Galicia approved a decree granting the municipality of O Porriño its official flag and coat of arms. The new symbols incorporate historic and economic references: a central bridge over the Louro River, a tower, wheat sheaves, a gear, a compass, and a plumb line on the flag, all reflecting the town’s bread‑making tradition and architectural heritage.
In parallel, the commercial register confirmed that the football club formerly known as Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña has officially changed its corporate name to Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña. The change follows a fan‑led poll in which about 80 % supported the top‑onym correction, and it was formalised by amending the club’s statutes. The new crest, unveiled at the San Juan celebration, displays the updated name in both Spanish and Galician as part of the club’s 120‑year anniversary preparations.
