Real Madrid reach verbal agreement for Manchester United talent JJ Gabriel

Real Madrid have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with 16-year-old Manchester United forward JJ Gabriel to secure his transfer, likely in the January 2027 window. The highly touted youngster, often referred to as “Kid Messi,” has been training independently in Spain while seeking a pathway to senior football.

Gabriel requested to leave Manchester United in September due to frustrations regarding first-team opportunities. While United officials, including head coach Michael Carrick, have emphasized the importance of long-term development, Gabriel’s representatives sought more immediate involvement in senior matches. The player holds an EU passport through his Irish heritage, a factor that is expected to facilitate the move to a club outside of England.

Although Real Madrid is currently the frontrunner, interest has been shown by Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. Manchester United remains registered with the player and has reportedly considered legal action if regulations are breached during the transition. If the move proceeds to a club outside the Premier League, United would be entitled to training compensation, estimated to be significantly lower than a domestic transfer fee.
