Real Madrid bolsters squad with three signings as Mourinho eyes left‑footed centre‑back

Real Madrid have completed three major signings this summer under new manager José Mourinho. Left‑back Marc Cucurella arrived from Chelsea for around €55 million, midfielder Bernardo Silva joined from Manchester City to add creativity after the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić, and centre‑back Ibrahima Konaté was secured from Liverpool to strengthen a defense that has often been stretched.

Mourinho is also reported to be targeting a left‑footed centre‑back. German defender Nico Schlotterbeck, whose €50 million release clause could be triggered, is a long‑time interest of the club, while Ecuadorian Piero Hincapié has emerged as another option. Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is also mentioned as a potential priority. The recruitment drive follows two consecutive seasons without a major trophy and aims to give the 15‑time European champions more balance on the flanks and in midfield.

The new arrivals are expected to address previous injury problems at left‑back and to provide midfield stability, while the pending centre‑back target would give Mourinho a left‑footed option to complement existing defenders.
