Real Madrid signs Carlos Espí, intensifying striker competition

Real Madrid activated a €25 million release clause to bring 21‑year‑old Spanish striker Carlos Espí from Levante. He signed a five‑year contract running until 30 June 2031. The move follows the departure of Gonzalo García to Fulham for €40 million and adds a 1.94 m, aerially strong forward to José Mourinho’s attack.

Espí’s arrival has reduced the prospects for Brazilian striker Endrick, who returned from a loan at Lyon and scored in a 2‑2 pre‑season friendly against Fiorentina on 1 August 2026. Endrick is not considered to fit Mourinho’s preferred profile and has indicated he may discuss a loan or transfer, with his future at the club described as uncertain.

Levante used the €25 million fee – the highest ever for a home‑grown player – and subsequently signed Belgian forward Yanis Musuayi for a reported €2.5‑4 million.

Entities: Carlos Espí · Endrick · Gonzalo García · José Mourinho · Levante UD · Real Madrid · Real Madrid CF · Real Madrid Club de Fútbol
