Real Madrid’s Summer Transfer Focus: Squad Exits and €200 Million Spending Plan

Real Madrid, under new manager José Mourinho, is preparing a major summer overhaul. The club plans to allocate up to €200 million to acquire centre‑back Alessandro Bastoni (≈ €80 m) and midfielder Enzo Fernández (≈ €120 m), as highlighted by club president Florentino Pérez. Mourinho insists that key positions must be reinforced, but the signings depend on creating space in the 26‑player roster. Several current squad members are being considered for departure, including Dani Ceballos, Eduardo Camavinga, and others, to satisfy salary‑cap and squad‑size limits.

Parallel to the transfer activity, Real Madrid is exploring a partial capital opening, with interest from LVMH boss Bernard Arnault and an Emirati investment fund, following a model similar to Bayern Munich’s corporate partnership. The potential investors would acquire a minority stake without governance rights, pending a members’ vote.

New signings are already under scrutiny. Portuguese winger Bernardo Silva, hired this summer, has struggled at the World Cup, being benched after a weak debut and playing only limited minutes in later matches. The club’s youth prospects, such as midfielder Thiago Pitarch, are also in Mourinho’s assessment, with the coach waiting to decide their future during pre‑season.

Other developments include former Real Madrid staff Álvaro Arbeloa’s move to Fulham, where he plans to tap into the club’s youth academy, La Fábrica, for talent. Overall, the summer window hinges on simultaneous player exits, high‑value acquisitions, and strategic financial partnerships.
