Raúl Asencio addresses driving conviction and injury

Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has addressed his recent legal and personal challenges in an interview with ‘AS’. The 23-year-old was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol following an incident in Gran Canaria in August, where his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.90 mg/l. As a result, he faced a €14,400 fine and an eight-month driving ban.

Asencio expressed regret for his ‘imprudence’ and apologized to his family and fans, stating, ‘I made a mistake. I admitted it and I acknowledge it, I asked for forgiveness and I will continue to ask for it.’

In addition to his legal issues, Asencio is currently recovering from surgery on a stress fracture in his right tibia. Reports indicate that manager José Mourinho may no longer include him in his immediate plans as the defender struggles to regain form and compete with other options in the squad.
