Real Madrid denies interest in Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández

Real Madrid issued an official statement on 3 July 2026 refuting recent rumors that the club was pursuing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández. The club said it has taken no direct or indirect action toward signing the 25‑year‑old Argentine, who is currently representing Argentina at the FIFA World Cup 2026. In the communiqué, Real Madrid expressed “maximum respect” for Fernández’s abilities and for Chelsea FC, emphasizing the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with the English club. The statement added that the speculation was unfounded and only creates confusion among fans.

The denial was made as Fernández played in the round‑of‑16 match between Argentina and Austria in Arlington, Texas, during the tournament co‑hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
