Gabriel Deck to undergo shoulder surgery, missing months of play

Argentine basketball player Gabriel Deck will undergo surgery on his left shoulder to treat anterior instability caused by a dislocation. Real Madrid has confirmed the medical diagnosis, noting that the injury is more serious than initially anticipated.

Deck is expected to be sidelined for a period ranging from four to six months. This absence will significantly impact both his club, Real Madrid, and the Argentina national team. For Argentina, the injury is a major setback in their qualification campaign for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar, as Deck is a key veteran for the squad led by Pablo Prigioni.

The injury stems from complications following a dislocation sustained during the August international window. While Deck attempted to manage the condition without surgery, recent medical evaluations determined that surgical intervention is the only viable option for full recovery.
