Real Madrid faces Rodrygo injury setback and midfield transfer interest

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is expected to remain sidelined until at least the beginning of 2027. Following surgery in March for a torn anterior cruciate ligament and damaged lateral meniscus in his right knee, the club is taking a cautious approach to his rehabilitation to minimize the risk of re-injury.

Due to the long recovery timeline, the Brazilian international is unlikely to play an official match for the remainder of 2026. Despite the extended absence, the club has expressed confidence in his future, noting that his contract runs until the summer of 2028.

In light of these squad availability issues and previous failed attempts to sign Rodri from Manchester City, Real Madrid has reportedly renewed interest in Martin Zubimendi. The midfielder, who moved to Arsenal after previously staying at Real Sociedad, is being considered as a potential solution for the team's midfield needs.
