Real Madrid friendly match sparks Westbahn's inaugural special fan train in Austria

Austrian private rail operator Westbahn will run a dedicated special‑train service for supporters attending the Real Madrid vs ACF Fiorentina friendly at Klagenfurt’s Wörthersee Stadium on 1 August 2026. After the match the train will depart Klagenfurt Westbahnhof at 21:05 and travel directly to Vienna, arriving at Wien Hauptbahnhof at 01:03. For the first time Westbahn will stop at four stations not normally on its route – Kapfenberg, Mürzzuschlag, Baden and Mödling – allowing fans from those towns to travel home without changing trains.

Tickets purchased for the day are valid on all Westbahn services and on local bus links operated by Klagenfurter Linien between the stadium and the station. Thomas Posch, managing director of Westbahn, said the service is meant to let supporters “travel like royalty” when the Spanish giants visit Austria. The train will also call at Graz, Bruck an der Mur, Wiener Neustadt, Wien Meidling and other intermediate stations, with seat‑reservation options available.

The initiative ties the football event – featuring Spain’s Real Madrid and Italy’s Fiorentina – to Austria’s rail network, providing a seamless transport solution for thousands of travelling fans.
