FIFA reports record $9.89 billion in international football transfers

According to the FIFA International Transfer Snapshot, the summer 2026 transfer window set a new record for international football, with clubs spending a total of $9.89 billion in men's professional football. The market saw more than 12,500 international transfers, a significant increase from previous years.

Major spending was driven by the 2026 World Cup, where 267 players from 47 nations generated over $3.3 billion in transfer fees. England's Premier League clubs led global investment with $3.02 billion spent, followed by Italy with $1.1 billion, Spain with $940 million, Germany with $904 million, and France with $641 million. While England led in spending, French clubs dominated in sales, collecting $1.7 billion.

The women's professional football market also experienced historic growth. International transfers in the women's game rose by 19.2% to 1,406 movements, and total transfer fees more than doubled compared to the same period in 2025, reaching $28.6 million.
