Real Madrid to loan Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono

Real Madrid confirmed it will send 18‑year‑old Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono out on a season‑long loan without a purchase option. The club, which paid roughly €63 million for the player in 2025 and holds his contract until 2031, said the move is intended to give him regular playing time after a debut season with 35 appearances, three goals and limited minutes.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on 22 July 2026 that more than five clubs have expressed interest, including Fulham in England, Fiorentina and Milan in Italy, Villarreal and Real Sociedad in Spain, and several others such as Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig. The loan will be a simple temporary transfer, allowing Madrid to retain full rights to the player. Coach José Mourinho is monitoring Mastantuono’s progress and will decide on the final destination. Sevilla FC was also mentioned as a possible destination in negotiations for another Madrid player, but the primary focus remains on finding a club where Mastantuono can play regularly.
