Real Madrid recalls Eli Ndiaye from Joventut due to injuries
Real Madrid is moving to recall power forward Eli Ndiaye from Joventut to address a severe injury crisis within its frontcourt. The club is looking to execute a recall clause in his loan agreement, which must be finalized before November 15.
The decision follows significant medical setbacks for the squad. Mikael Jantunen is sidelined indefinitely with a complete rupture of the plantar fascia in his left foot, while Gabriel Deck is expected to be out for three to four months due to a shoulder injury. Additionally, Usman Garuba remains unavailable, and Theo Maledon is dealing with a knee sprain.
Coach Pedro Martínez has expressed a need for defensive reinforcements and interior depth to manage the demands of both the Liga Endesa and the EuroLeague. Ndiaye, who has averaged 8 points and 3.5 rebounds in his first six games with Joventut, is viewed as an immediate solution. His status as a homegrown player also provides an administrative advantage by not consuming a roster spot in the Liga Endesa.
