Real Madrid sign left‑back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for €55 million

Spanish club Real Madrid have completed the €55 million transfer of left‑back Marc Cucurella from England's Chelsea. The 27‑year‑old, a Barcelona academy graduate and current Spain international, signed a contract to remain at Madrid until 30 June 2032. The deal was announced by club representatives, coinciding with Florentino Pérez securing a second term as president and the appointment of José Mourinho as head coach. Chelsea said Cucurella joined them in 2022 from Brighton after previously playing for Getafe.

Cucurella’s move follows Real’s reported interest in other defenders, including Ibrahim Konaté, as the club seeks to strengthen its back line ahead of the 2026 World Cup and upcoming La Liga campaign.
