Real Madrid signs Dutch right‑back Denzel Dumfries from Inter
Real Madrid announced the signing of Dutch international Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan on a four‑year contract that runs until 30 June 2030. The club activated a €20 million release clause to bring the 30‑year‑old right‑back to the Santiago Bernabéu, where he will compete for the starting spot with England’s Trent Alexander‑Arnold after the departure of long‑time stalwart Dani Carvajal.
During his five seasons at Inter, Dumfries made 207 appearances, scoring 27 goals and providing 28 assists, and helped the club win two Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and three Supercoppa Italiana titles. He also featured for the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the team were eliminated by Morocco in the round of 32.
The transfer is part of a broader squad rebuild under manager José Mourinho, which also saw the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté, and the extension of defender Antonio Rüdiger. The announcement was delayed until early July for fiscal reasons, allowing the fee and salary to be accounted for in the next financial year.
