Real Madrid signs left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Spanish left‑back Marc Cucurella from Premier League club Chelsea. The transfer fee is reported at around €60 million (£51.8 million), comprising €55 million fixed plus €5 million in bonuses, with a six‑year contract. Cucurella, 27, joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022, made 163 appearances, and was part of the squads that won the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. He has also represented Spain, winning the UEFA European Championship in 2024.

The deal is expected to be finalized early next week, after interest from other top clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City. Real Madrid’s acquisition adds a proven left‑back to their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
