The exemption is attributed to Real Madrid’s control over its own broadcasting framework and specific restrictions imposed on broadcasters’ connections at the stadium. This has led to ongoing friction between the club and Spanish football authorities. The club’s in-house channel, RMTV, has faced criticism for producing content that critiques refereeing decisions, leading to formal complaints of “persecution and harassment” from Sevilla and the referees’ union.

This standoff highlights a growing divide in Spanish football governance, as the league pushes for greater transparency to help fans understand controversial decisions, while Real Madrid’s broadcasting arrangements continue to operate under separate rules.
