Real Madrid targets Julian Alvarez while Liverpool faces Premier League transfer slot limit

Real Madrid has dismissed rumours linking the club to Michael Olise, Rodri or Enzo Fernandez and confirmed that its only concrete pursuit is Argentine forward Julian Alvarez. The Spanish giants submitted a £127 million offer to Atletico Madrid for the player, but the bid was rejected because the release clause stands at £432 million, and no further negotiations are planned.

Liverpool, meanwhile, can add only one more senior non‑homegrown player this summer. Premier League rules allow a maximum of 25 senior players, of which no more than 17 may be non‑homegrown. The club currently lists 16 non‑homegrown senior players, leaving a single slot available unless it signs a U‑21 player (born on or after 1 January 2005), which would not count against the senior quota.
