Real Madrid to face Ferencváros in friendly at Budapest's Groupama Arena

Real Madrid will play a pre‑season friendly against Hungarian champions Ferencváros on 8 August at Budapest's Groupama Arena. The match marks the Spanish club's first appearance at the venue, which previously hosted Mourinho’s Chelsea side for the stadium’s 2014 opening game. Mourinho, now Real Madrid’s head coach, praised the arena during that earlier visit, a factor cited as helping secure the fixture.

The two teams last met in the 1995–96 Champions League group stage, with Madrid winning 6‑1 in Spain and the clubs drawing 1‑1 in Budapest. Ticket prices start at 14 000 forint, with sales opening for season‑ticket holders on 27 July and for the general public on 28 July. A possible postponement of Ferencváros’s domestic league match against Győr has been hinted at to accommodate the high‑profile friendly.

Attendance is expected to be strong, and the event is projected to generate significant revenue for Ferencváros through ticket sales, broadcast rights and sponsorships.
